The driving idea of the project is based precisely on the concept of Biophilic Design, which defends the connection of man with nature in the search for his psychological and emotional well-being. Therefore, the design includes colors, textures, materials and shapes present in nature to enhance this relationship with the user and improve their daily well-being.
The project consists of the expansion of Mayoral's central offices in Malaga. These new offices are located in an existing building, on a rectangular floor with a central area in double height illuminated zenithally.
The introduction of freeze-dried vegetation at different strategic points also enhances this continuous dialogue between man and nature. Green colors, browns similar to that of sand, natural woods and white, as a catalyst color; they envelop ceilings, walls and floors.
As for the functionality of the space and furniture, the hexagon is the predominant geometry, a symbol of efficiency within natural structures, such as honeycomb. In addition, the exclusive MHEXA furniture, based on a hexagonal pattern, allows you to organize the space in accordance with ceilings and luminaires. This geometry is modified in corridors and common rooms, where the straight line appears and the white and the sand color of the floors predominate.
The LUXHA luminaire, designed exclusively for this project, is combined with the hexagonal ceiling while colonizing the central atrium, thus establishing a spatial reference plane and artificial lighting that complements the natural light that bathes the double height. To improve the acoustics in this double-height area, conditioning panels are placed under the roof that resemble a bony structure that surrounds the curved space of the atrium.
The wooden and glass screens and doors allow you to organize the offices and the different departments while maintaining the same essence of the rest of the elements of the project. The hexagonal geometry is also introduced
